i graduated with my psych degree and a minor in english this past may; the reason i wanted a degree was for the goal that 17 year old me had to become a psychedelic therapist.
As that possibility is still a bit novel, i decided to pursue something more straight forward. I want to own my own practice to give my own type of therapy step one is getting my MS in Clinical Counseling.
As i love the transformative experiences of life, psychedelics, myth, and literarure, i want to incorporate that into my counseling. To do that, i decided that a PHD in Noetic Sciences from the noetic institute in Cali would be my way of doing that.
As of now, that is the loose framework of my plan, in addition to writing stories and essays.
Why this changes my career path is because, well, your doing exactly what want to be doing here on substack. Your Coaching, and i know that coaching loophole is a beautiful thing; what i do now for people is coaching and your the very first person who i have ever seen who has made this outlet work and work WELL.
Not only did i subscribe to start the healing of something deeply repressed in myself, but you are a shining example of the reason i made myself go to college and why i picked psych as a subject.
I'm realizing that l'm narrowing myself down by choosing only academic paths and i need to expand my approach to this holistic styles of healing that brought me to life at 17.
Excellent work on this substack, and excellent research your doing. thank you for being a new inspiration to me. I'm excited to gift your substack.
I am truly touched by your feedback, thank you. I remember really well the tension of being in an academic environment but being called for something outside of it. Your PhD sounds fascinating! What is the topic of your PhD? I am incredibly interested in myth also, thanks to Jung helping me find my way to Joseph Campbell's work as I'm sure you are familiar with.
It sounds like you are well on your way to creating your own coaching style, I'm super excited for you!
Thank you Ben! Yes this has been one of my biggest findings when working with people and helping them unleash their desires- they often have follow on effects at work or in their personal life and their leadership skills. I will write about it more soon, thanks for your interest in it, I have a course I will create at some point that helps people tap into this as well.
What particular aspect of it would you like to know more about?
I'm just curious to hear the links you see between understanding ones desires/eroticism and leadership abilities.
For example, how does the energy of desire reflect, or manifest itself, in other contexts (such as the professional one, for example, but I assume also friendships, parenting etc).
Sharing your story is worth as much as all your courses, in a manner of speaking,so thank you! So much of what you write is familiar, personally and also as the partner of an amazing bisexual woman in our ENM adventure. It's so good to know that the itineraries of sex-positive people may vary in detail, but that the journey is as liberating and empowering.
Thank you so much! The journey isn't always easy, but it's worth it. I wish you and your partner a beautiful one together. If you haven't checked it out you might enjoy my podcast linked on my substack, it explores peoples kink and poly journey's via in depth 1:1 conversations.
This was such an inspiring read. The way you traced your journeyβfrom feeling like you had to hide in grey, to immersing yourself in communities and traditions that celebrated desire, to creating Psychology of Desireβwas powerful. What struck me most was how you wove academic rigor with embodied exploration. That combination of research, travel, and lived practice feels rare and needed.
Your line about becoming who you needed when you were younger really landed. Itβs clear that youβve built something out of both courage and care, and the offerings youβve created seem like theyβll open doors for people who are ready but unsure of where to begin.
Thank you for sharing the shadows and the light. It takes a lot to make a path this personal so open and generous.
Wow, love your journey as not only did you immerse yourself,
but you allowed yourself to experience and grow.
Such a beautiful journey and now helping so many others!
Thank you so much! Yes I'm a big believer in learning through experience, it was much needed after a life of academia.
Appreciate your kind words a lot!
Absolutely inspiring, I love it!ππ
Thank you Maria!

Nice to come across your story.
βUnderstanding your desire is often the key to understanding your eroticism and leadership abilities.β This sentence sparked my interest.
Have you written more about this topic? Iβd be curious to hear you unpack this more.

Thanks for that, I'll be sure to include all of those in my writing about it! It's a fascinating topic.
Looking forward to it.
