Desire Deserves a Home and We Are Building One Together
Bridging psychology and sexuality to create a home for the erotic mind
Welcome!
I’m glad you’re here.
I’ve been unfolding a lot here lately; deep dives into Jung’s theories of libido, symbolic readings of kink, anonymous stories of erotic transformation … but I realised something: I haven’t properly introduced myself.
Considering there are now so many of you here (which is such a gift!) I figured it was about time I told you more about me and my mission.
So let me take a moment to say hello and give you an update on what’s happening in the Psychology of Desire Realm.
Who is behind the Psychology of Desire?
I’m Emma, a Jungian inspired Sexologist and Erotic Psychology Researcher. I’m the founder of Psychology of Desire, and I created this space for those who sense that sexuality holds more than surface pleasure; that it is a mirror, a metaphor, a message from our authentic selves.
I have been exploring the mind for over 20 years, originally through degrees in Psychology and Sociology, followed by Honours in Psychophysiology.
I began my academic journey wanting to be a Clinical Psychologist, but life had other plans.
I ended up in neuroscience, clinical sleep research and transpersonal psychology, before later travelling around the world studying tantra and interviewing people in all sorts of sexually explorative environments about their desires.
Plus a whole lot more that I will get into another time (stay tuned!).
My findings from this incredibly potent time in my life are all currently being transmuted into my upcoming courses.
But to give you a taste, the biggest learning was how important desire is to our sense of self and our experience of what it is to be human.
To desire and be desired is a pivotal human experience.
My work explores the science and symbolism of desire: from the light to the dark.
Fantasy, desires, BDSM, dreams, and the archetypal patterns that run beneath our erotic lives.
I believe, and know that sexuality is not just about what we do…. but who we are becoming.
I also believe that our erotic realms deserve a home.
All of my creations have this mission in mind.
Now for an update on what I’ve been working on.

This is your last chance to become a Founding Member of the Deep Desire Project — my anonymous global archive exploring the unconscious and conscious sides of sexuality through dreams and fantasies.
I’m so excited about this project…the data from Founding Members so far is SO interesting.
If you’d like to take part you will receive:
Early access to insights from the data
A voice in shaping the direction of the research
A special thank you gift
Lifetime credit in the final published work
This project is becoming the cornerstone of our collective work in erotic psychology, and the archive we’re building together will be one of the most intimate and expansive ever created!
Help Me Create Space for Erotic Work on Substack
Right now, writers like me (and probably some of you) who write about erotic psychology, relationships, kink, identity, shadow work and more have no proper category on Substack.
I was wondering when someone was going to change it.
Then I realised that maybe that someone to get the ball rolling, was me.
So I started a petition.
I’m calling for Substack to create a Relationships & Sexuality category so this kind of work can be seen, supported, and searched for.
This isn’t just a personal ask.
It’s about making space for real conversations around eros, identity, healing, and growth.
If this resonates with you, I’d love your signature (and for you to share it too).

I’d Love Your Feedback: Decode Desires Course
I’m in the final stages of creating Decode My Desires Course that helps you uncover your personal Desire Template.
But before I finalise everything, I want to hear from you.
I’ve created a short survey which explores your thoughts and relationship with desire.
You can also register your interest for the upcoming course and be in the draw for a discounted price when it’s released!
Take the survey and register here.
Jung of Sex series.
And lastly, if you didn’t catch it, I just wrote a 4 part series on the Jung of Sex.
An exploration of Sexuality from a Jungian Lens, check it out!
What’s Next?
Next week I’m releasing a very special post for paid subscribers: a deep dive into your data from the Desire Survey.
We’ll look at:
how you define desire in their own words
what your struggling with in terms of desires
and what it reveals about our erotic lives.
And…
I’ll also be opening early access to the upcoming course, Decode My Desires.
Founding Members will get a discount, early access to the material, and a say in shaping the course itself.
If you’ve been feeling this space crack something open inside you I’d love for you to be part of building what’s coming next!
Phew- I think that covers everything for now!
There’s plenty more to come, and I am so excited to see where this all leads.
Looking forward to exploring the erotic realm with you!
